CONSTRUCTION NOTICE
AUGUST 2022 – SPRING 2023
What’s happening?
To protect the people and property in Drumheller from loss due to flooding, Wilco Contractors Southwest Inc. is constructing the Midland Berm. This project is part of the Flood Mitigation and Climate Adaptation System, managed by the Resiliency and Flood Mitigation Office.
Project details:
- Project Map (The work areas indicated in orange are approximate and not to scale.)
- Dates: This work is scheduled to commence mid- August and will continue until the ground freezes. Final cleanup and landscaping may occur in Spring 2023.
What to expect:
Below are the things to be aware of related to this project. Crews will make every effort to minimize the effect their work has on daily activities and will follow all applicable standards and bylaws.

Phase 1: Pre-Construction (Mobilization): mid-August – early-September 2022

Phase 2: Demolition and Removals: mid-September 2022

Phase 3: Earthworks and Drainage Installations: mid-September – mid-November 2022

Phase 4: Final Cleanup and Landscaping: Spring 2023
Road closures, pathways closures, detours, parking, and access:

Pathways will be closed along the Midland berm alignment for the duration of construction.

The pathway along the Red Deer River between the CN Rail bridge and North Dinosaur trail will be closed for approximately 16 weeks from Monday, August 29th 2022 until December 2022. Click HERE for a map of the pathway closure.

Trucks will be hauling dirt to the project site, so please expect minor traffic delays and drive with caution.
