Drumheller Resiliency and Flood Mitigation Office Update
Posted on Jan. 10 2022On Thursday, January 6, 2022, a meeting for Lehigh residents was held where they were provided with information and informed that it is no longer safe to continue to reside in Lehigh. Engineering studies were done by previous engineers a few years back and the current flood team and they have come to the same conclusion. The other flood mitigation options are not tenable.
At the Lehigh meeting, a death threat was made towards a member of the flood mitigation team.
In addition to being very concerning and troubling, this type of behaviour is completely unacceptable. The RCMP were asked to review the matter.
All town employees have the right to a safe and respectful work environment.
We recognize that this has been a very challenging time and that the nature of the circumstances can be very emotional. We understand that individuals may at times express themselves in a less than ideal manner, including using profanity, insults, and accusations. However, violent, abusive, or aggressive behaviour and/or language will not be tolerated.
We will continue to strive to ensure that all residents are treated with fairness, integrity, and respect in our interactions with members of our community, and we would appreciate the same in return. The resident’s well-being is important to us and we’re working hard to find a resolution for everyone.
