Historic Resources Assessment in North Drumheller and East Coulee

Posted on Mar. 6 2024

Attention North Drumheller and East Coulee residents!

As part of regulatory approvals for construction, the Town of Drumheller is required to investigate the possibility of historic resources in berm footprint areas. Archeologists will be on site in North Drumheller and East Coulee on Thursday, March 7 and possibly Friday, March 8, to excavate test pits. These pits will be up to 3m deep and will search for and identify any historic resources in the area.

Due to this work, there may be construction equipment travelling around the sites. This does NOT mean that construction has started, but rather that we are carrying out these historic resources assessments.

Any test pits dug will be refilled after excavation, and any items will be noted by our team of specialists.

We ask that all residents to pay attention to safety instructions and NOT approach equipment working on site.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the Flood Office by emailing floodreadiness@drumheller.ca or calling 403-823-4878.
