Important Notice: East Coulee Tree Removal

Posted on Jan. 16 2024

Attention East Coulee Residents!

Ensuring the safety and well-being of our community is our top priority, and we want to inform our residents about upcoming tree removal work that will begin in late January. This work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks to complete.

In preparation for the tree clearing work associated with Phase 2 of the East Coulee Berm construction, an assessment of the tree health in the area was completed. Any trees in good or fair health will be replaced at a ratio of 5:1 – five replacements for every one removal. These replacements may be trees, shrubs, or a combination of both. To mitigate the transfer of Dutch Elm Disease to other trees, elm trees will be disposed of in the landfill.

During the tree removal process, we ask that the public please exercise caution and stay away from the active cutting areas. Doing so ensures the safety of members of the public and of the contractors.

Residents may see contractors in the area on January 22, 2024 as they begin the surveying and staking process.

We understand that these actions may raise questions and concerns among the residents. The Flood Office values your input and is here to provide you with any information that you require about this project. Please feel free to contact us at floodreadiness@drumheller.ca if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.

Thank you for your continued support in maintaining the safety of East Coulee.
